At Essex Coatings, we provide professional powder coating services for domestic, commercial, and industrial customers throughout Essex and the surrounding areas. Using industry-leading equipment and proven coating processes, we deliver durable, attractive finishes that offer superior protection against corrosion, wear, and weathering.
Whether you’re refurbishing alloy wheels, restoring metal furniture, coating architectural steelwork, or protecting industrial components, our powder coating solutions are designed to provide a long-lasting finish that looks great and performs exceptionally.
What is Powder Coating?
Powder coating is an advanced finishing process where a dry powder is electrostatically applied to a metal surface before being cured in a specialist oven. This creates a tough, uniform coating that is significantly more durable than conventional wet paint.
The result is a smooth, professional finish that offers excellent resistance to chips, scratches, corrosion, UV exposure, and everyday wear.

Environmentally Friendly
Unlike traditional liquid paints, powder coating contains no solvents and produces minimal waste.
Cost-Effective Protection
The durability of powder coating reduces maintenance requirements and extends the lifespan of metal components.
Surface Preparation Matters
A quality finish starts with proper preparation. Before coating, components are thoroughly cleaned and, where required, professionally shot blasted to remove rust, old paint, and contaminants. This ensures maximum adhesion and a longer-lasting finish.
Why Choose Powder Coating?
Outstanding Durability
Powder coating provides a hard-wearing protective layer that resists chipping, scratching, fading, and corrosion.
Professional Appearance
The curing process creates a smooth, even finish with excellent colour consistency.
Powder Coating
Powder coating is a dry finishing process that applies a durable, uniform coating to metal surfaces. The powder is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the metal, then cured in an oven at around 180–200°C to create a smooth, hard-wearing finish that outperforms conventional wet paint.
We coat a wide range of items: gates, railings, fence posts, garden furniture, machinery guards, structural steel, vehicle components, and general metalwork. With access to the full RAL and British Standard colour ranges, you can specify exact colour and gloss level.
Typical lead time is 5–10 working days from receipt of items, depending on workload.
Shot Blasting
Shot blasting is the essential preparation step before powder coating. It removes rust, old paint, mill scale, and surface contamination from metal, leaving a clean, profiled surface that the powder coating bonds to strongly.
We operate blast equipment capable of handling items up to significant size, and we regularly work with steel fabricators, machinery suppliers, and other trade customers who need consistent, reliable pre-treatment before finishing.
Shot blasting can be carried out on its own — many customers need cleaned metal for painting, storage, or further processing.
Collection and Delivery
We offer collection and delivery across Essex and surrounding areas for larger items or batch work. This is particularly useful for commercial customers, architectural metalwork contractors, and homeowners with gates, railings, or industrial items that are difficult to transport.
Discuss your requirements when requesting a quote — collection and delivery is charged separately and depends on location and item size.
